We will be joined by Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Michelle Reid, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Jeff McKay and Providence District Supervisor Dalia Palchik

We will honor the 1.35 million people killed worldwide each year in preventable traffic crashes.

We will remember the 21 pedestrians killed this year in Fairfax County.

Motor vehicle crashes are preventable, yet they continue to be a leading cause of death in the United States. We call on our elected officials and state and local transportation officials to do everything in their power to stop the pain, suffering, and tragic outcomes that result from traffic violence.

We want to use this World Day of Remembrance to ask that public funds be used to end the soaring crisis on our roadways. With the recent passage of the federal Infrastructure bill, we have an historic opportunity to direct billions of dollars towards fixing deadly roads and improving walking and biking conditions – in all communities.
